big start to 08 with the best of 07.

Wow, how fast does time seem to fly by. It's already 08 and we're entering the Big World of IB in 6months! I've got quite a few things I'd like to point out about our past year. The Spring 08 Collections. Of course there are a few disappointments (Eg. Chanel) but there are many collections that have caught my attention.

John Galliano. Round of applause for him. I love the theme and the runway is vibrant, playful and quite entertaining. The collection itself, all the detail, but i don't know if i would wear it.

And out comes the man himself!

Bottega Veneta. Gorgeous shades used in the collection. Sophisticated, Gorgeous.

And LOOVE the Spring08 Valentino.

Like Amirah said before. Bags, Shoes? Gorgeous. White, Red & Black are the colours you cant go wrong with.

I'm sure all of you have heard, but VALENTINO IS RETIRING :( Announced a long time ago, September 4th they say. How many celebrities have looked amazing in Valentino? The designer who's dressed award winners, actresses that will be remembered for years to come and even royalty. Jacqueline Onassis(First lady in Office when married to President John Kennedy), Elizabeth Taylor (Two-time Academy-Award winner) and Cate Blanchett(Australian Academy and Golden Globe winner) are a few to name.

how gorgeous do these models look in their outfits. All dressed in Valentino.

I'm meaning to mention Trench Coats, especially double breasted ones. In brown, beige, whites, cream, black. Ooh I want one. I WANT SEASONS!

Ooh and BTW, have any of you seen the Pre-Fall Collections? You HAVE to look at Burberry and Chanel in particular. Chanel has officially redeemed itself. It's Pre-Fall is GORGEOUS. I loove Burberry's one. It was mostly warm colours. Browns, Reds, Yellows, Beiges, Greys, Black and White. Bit of Blue here and there which stands out. A Must-Look At. Valentino used nice colours, but if you look close up, it's not one of those "MUST CLICK NOW AND SEE" collections.

The Best of 07

In keeping with the end of the year, I've summed up my favorites of 2007!

1) Bangs

Ah, this year definitely was a massive revival for the edgy 80's eyelash skimming hair trend, with everyone from supermodels to Zac Efron (yuck!) hopping on the bandwagon. Though I can't recollect who started it all off, I'm guessing it was Irina Lazareanu (yes I can spell her name!), almost every celebrity went to their stylist and asked for a trim for their fringe. Granted I did try the cut myself, I acknowledge that this is not the easiest look to pull. Nevertheless I think that this cut, despite its ubiquity now is still a fun way to change up your style. 2) Patent

This was another trend I gladly embraced. At first one would think that patent is really horrible and tacky and just generally an eyesore cause well its plastic and it shines and why wouldn't that be just tawdry?! I mused it over for a while after taking a walk through a shoe store and actually thought it's a nice material. BUT you have to be extra conscientious when dressing with it cause it can go either way. I prefer patent in small healthy doses like shoes and bags -- but never a trenchcoat!

3) Ali Larter

A style icon is in the making! Almost every single time I see Ali Larter being snapped by photogs she looks immaculate! Her style is really refreshing, not too trend laden but she always looks on the point and stylish and classic. I also give props for her ability to look sexy but never crossing the skanky line.

4) Sleeveless blazers

This isn't much of a trend but I'd noticed a few of them scattered on the spring runways. It's a new alternative to vests I guess but I think they'd look better with a sleeveless top inside, to focus in on the sleeves (or lack thereof).

5) Collaborations

With Kate Moss designing for Topshop, 2007 was a year for the celebrity + high street store. I gravitate towards designer + inexpensive brand rather than celebrities but Kate Moss is an exception. Pieces from GAP's collaborations lines with designers Doo Ri, Rodarte and Thakoon were even featured on the cover of the coveted (yet disappointing) Vogue May issue.
